Recap of AeHIN’s 6th General Meeting

Last October 7 -9, 2018, three RHINO Board members joined over three hundred participants at the Asia eHealth Information Network’s (AeHIN) 6th General Meeting (GM) in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The meeting was convened in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka and with the support from the World Health Organization, Asian Development Bank, Digital Impact Alliance, the Health Informatics Society of Sri Lanka, and other partners. The theme of the conference was Interoperable Digital Health for UHC and highlighted the importance of governance, architecture, program management, and standards in achieving this.

As is common in an AeHIN GM, participants were able to share their respective knowledge and lessons learned in an informal relaxed and fund setting allowing them to probe the root causes of many challenges that they all faced with their national eHealth program. The event ended with the turn-over of the hosting privileges to the Ministry of Health Vietnam who promised to offer an exciting GM, showcasing the advances gained by the country by then.
